    Organizational Information

    KMSS Taunggyi is a faith-based social network at the service of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Taunggyi. With the inspiration “Option for the poor” it has been established by Archbishop Matthias U Shwe together with a number of priests and 9 laymen in the year of 1994 in Mobye, as social arm to serve the poor and the needy. It was established with the aim of helping out the poor due to peoples’ encountering difficulties in their livelihood because of the 3 years draught in Shan and Kayah States. Moreover the rural people were fo rced to leave their villages and were cut off from the supply of goods and food in 1994, was another reason of being in condition to approach the Church for their basic needs. Only in the year of 2000 it was well established with proper structure. In 2001 it came out with its vision, mission, diocesan strategic plan, and job descriptions of its staff. The first General Assembly was held in 1996, and the second in 2006. Its mission was give full attention to holistic development, realization of Justice and Peace, Environmental protection, Humanitarian assistance and Emergency relief services.

    Mission

    To serve our people, especially the poor, needy and marginalised by empowering them towards integral human development guideed by the Gospel values and the social teachings of the Church.

    Organizational Information

    With the guidence of Bishop Isaac Danu, Bishop of Taungngu Diocese KMSS-Taungngu has been roughly established in 1996 and there was only one priest inchard of it, namely, Rev.Fr. John Gawdy. At that time,there wwere no office and staffs. It was run by inclusive participation of Parish Committee members for the victims of flood, fire , storm and natural disaster with Lenten Fund. There were no Particular donors. In the years of 1998,2000,2001, Bishop Issac Danu chose and sent (3) priests to Philippine for Development and Leadership course. After that KMSS-Taungngu was founded and established with some priests, nuns and Lay persons in 2001 July12.Their main priorty and focus are Education,Health,Literature and Agriculture for parishioners.

    KMSS - Taungngu is one of Faith based organizations working under the umbrella of Catholic Bishop Conference Myanmar(CBCM). The office is working under the guideline and principlesof Catholic social teachings (CST). The office is located in Bago Region, Taungngu, quarter(7),Bohmu PhoKun Road. There are five program sectors that the office is working on. They are: Education, Health, Livelihood, relief and social protection. The activities of these program sectors are implemented in different parts of areas such as northen karen state, southern shan state and Eastern Bago Region. The office applying the polices relevant to the organization.It also has common strategy, HR and Finance manuals as other KMSS Offices have which are very important for organization. The structure of the office is composed of chairman(Bishop), Advisory Board, Director, Program Coordinator, HR sector, M&E sector, Finance sector , Admin and logistic sector and programs sector.There are altogether (40) Saffs(M)23 ,(F)17 in the office. Office working hour per day is from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

    Mission

    To assist the local communities by means of socio-economic initiatives based on the social teaching of the Church

    To accompany the local communities to become fully self-reliant towards a life of human dignity 

    Organizational Information

    KMSS - Loikaw is founded by Bishop: Sotero Phamo in 1993, Aug 23. The Main objectives is -  to help the Internal Displace Person of political conflict and battle.

    KMSS - Loikaw is a Church Based Organization and apply Catholic Social Teaching of the church. It has three departments (Admin/HR, Finance, Program)and five sectors (Education, Health, Livelihood, Social Protection and Emergency relief) of Program. Currently, we are implementing ten projects in all township of Kayah state with thirty-seven human resources.

  • KMSS-Pekhon

    Background Of KMSS-Pekhon

    KMSS-Pekhon is one of 16 Diocesan Karuna offices in Myanmar and is operating humanitarian and development work in Pekhon Diocese which covers 5 townships ( Pekhon, Pin Long, Hsi Hseng, Naung Ta Yar, Mauk Mei) in Southern Shan State, Myanmar. KMSS-Pekhon due to limit of fund/grant and capacity is focusing the programme operations particularly in Pekhon Township and Pin Long Township.

    KMSS-Pekhon, mandated by the local Church, was established on August 5th, 2006 and is a faith-based, non-profit and non-political organization. KMSS-Pekhon, guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, commits itself to uplifting the quality and dignity of the people, especially the poor and the marginalized, regardless of gender, creed and nationality.

    People, based on Love or Compassion, live in dignity and quality of life.

    Mission

    KMSS-Pekhon, guided by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, commit to promoting peace and holistic development of the people (esp. the disadvantaged) in Pekhon Diocese and Pekhon Township through network, technical assistance and material support.

    Currently, KMSS-Pekhon has been actively engaging in the following programmes:

    1. Emergency Relief (Lenten Fund, WFP)
    2. Education (NFPE, CCA, ECCD, English and Computer class)
    3. Health (Pediatric health center)
    4. Livelihood (Micro-credit, sustainable agriculture, rice bank)
    5. Social Protection (CBCP)

    Currently, there are 42 staffs (6 office staff and 38 project or support staffs) that have been actively engaging in the programme operations.
